An outdoor living area and a structurally sound home for the custom spa were the focus of this remodeled deck project. We faced a number of challenges during construction:
- Due to the significant slope in the backyard and the existing retaining wall, footings needed to be 50% deeper than is typically required. Cutting through rock added an extra challenge for our crew but led to a stable deck that will last decades.
- The spa needed a concrete slab for stability, which meant framing around it for a seamless transition between deck and spa edge. Framing was designed to allow necessary access for maintenance.
- The media wall was an important aspect of the project for our homeowner and the pergola needed to span the entire 19 foot width of the deck to achieve the look and feel they wanted. With cantilevered rafters and imbedded posts, we were able to acheive that look and provide stability.
- Additional features include a tongue and groove ceiling, storage door under the deck, and a color scheme to make this detached deck feel like an extention of the home.

Curved deck designs take the right homeowner and desire for that style. This homeowner knew they needed a new deck and loved the fact we are custom and built from scratch to create a high performing deck that will last. Being original owners of the home, they plan to be there till the end and want a forever deck. The husband travels and wants a deck his wife enjoys while he’s away from home and has a great space to grill and enjoy growing his herb garden. The wife wanted a balcony style, that would have architectural interest and creating a curved balcony delighted her immensely. The plan was for the curved balcony to extend what they currently have and make it flow to the grilling area, with planters. Project is completed, everyone is thrilled, loving every aspect and they have a grilling kitchen and enjoys meals outside. Soon, they remembered it gets hot and when it rains, they don’t grill. Phase 2 solution, a louvered roof pergola and now even more delighted that no matter what the weather is they can sit outside and enjoy. We love curved deck designs and are happy when homeowners have the same enthusiasm.
