The goal of our homeowner was to remodel the existing pool surround with a design that would highlight the curved shape of the pool and create a welcoming space for all to enjoy. To achieve this, we:
- Installed curved decking to compliment the lines of the pool and spa. Because of the design, each board was a slightly different angle so forms could not be used, every board had to be individually heated and then shaped in place for the perfect fit.
- Used mineral based composite sleepers, shimming them in all directions, to create a completely level base that would allow for water flow with the existing drainage system but also hold up to moisture over time
- After installing about 1/3 of the boards using grooved composite, we discovered the grooves did not handle being curved consistently and it created warping and uneven seams. All decking had to be removed and solid boards were used instead.

By far this original deck was one of the worst, closed off as the stairs had already fallen apart. Cones out on the surface to guide you across weak spots on the deck. While on the deck made some measurements and our designer forgot what side of the cones they needed to stay on and fell through the deck; nobody was hurt. The homeowner wanted to have a way to enjoy his water features in the landscaping and a new spa with privacy. Wanted to know about deck curves and we felt it also needed curved stairs! Access to the water features in nature we designed a bridge with a curve(arch). The sketchy demo was done with no injuries, concrete was poured for spa pad, and installed spa, the curvy deck is built, and privacy screens and spa seating with storage were added. The arched bridge and custom railings, which really weren’t too bad. The real challenge was coming with the curved stairs. After 2 weeks, many minds putting together the plans, measurements, replanning, and completion we have a finished deck. This design really tested the skills of everyone and made for a very satisfied homeowner, who loves to be on his deck year-round.

Custom, Curved, and Creative—these were the guiding principles for this unique deck project. The design embraces the existing curved geometry of the pool to achieve a harmonious and visually striking layout. A cozy lounging space is sheltered under a small, shed-style roof, complete with a feature wall for a TV and fireplace, creating an inviting nook for relaxation.
The curved outdoor kitchen integrates seamlessly, featuring a smoker, flat-top grill, and a serving bar, enhancing both functionality and dining space. The custom bar top flows along the edge of the deck, providing a perfect view over the pool, while the curved railings trace graceful lines that ebb and flow with the overall design.
Even the stairs and railings were meticulously crafted to mirror these curves, showcasing the impressive capabilities of Trex composite decking. Boards were bent to a remarkable 9- foot radius, demonstrating the team’s expertise in material innovation and precision craftsmanship. The result is a stunning outdoor space that not only meets but elevates the client’s vision, combining aesthetic flow with practical luxury. Every detail was planned to perfection, making this deck a true testament to custom design and creative engineering.
