First Place

Ravin Builders

Partners: CAMO, Deckorators, Eva-Last, IG Railing, in-lite, Owens Corning Lumber, Under the Sun

  • Entered our first home show less than a month before event
  • Wanted to show off as many styles, products, and design ideas as possible in a small booth (10×15) without looking overdone or crowded.
  • A truly 3D booth meant we would need to disassemble and re-build on-site
  • Using a multi-level surface meant we could showcase 4 different decking products including porcelain tile
  • A built-in bar highlighted alternative uses for deck boards, and gave us a functional space to collect customer information
  • Outdoor cladding gave us a great spot to show off our previous NADRA awards to potential clients!
  • A roof, pergola, and “stone fireplace” let customers know that we can build any outdoor space, from porches to gazebos and pavilions
  • Mix of real and faux plants, along with landscape lighting, made the booth really feel like you were enjoying an outdoor space

Second Place

Northern Outdoor Living

Partner: Millboard Inc.

The Millboard IBS display was a massive undertaking for us. This booth is a 40’x40′ deck with a number of wild features integrated to showcase their product’s versatility.

Because of the modular design of the floor system, we took 5 weeks to build the display off site in St. Paul. All of the floor panels, all of the features and pack the pieces, ever so carefully and shipped it all to Las Vegas just in time!
The platform itself is divided into quadrants featuring different products and demo stations. A huge challenge was routing all of the electrical, low voltage, and audio cabling within the floor system and through many of the structures wall panels all while setting up in order to conceal everything properly.

Some unique aspects include the “River of Light”. We tried to capture a vibe of a lightly flowing/glistening stream to flow under the “Dock” panels. This was achieved by burying a fiber optic mesh and flex LED lights under a bed of blue fire rocks. This created a calming slight movement through the transparent glass rocks.

We also came up with ways to assemble and deconstruct whole structures using only “French cleat” systems and no fasteners!

Third Place

Techwood Decks

Partner: TimberTech by AZEK

Our showroom is strategically designed to elevate our client experience and showcase the exceptional quality of TimberTech materials.

  • We utilized large, full-size boards to display a wide variety. By presenting an extensive selection of colors together, we enabled clients to visualize how different shades could work harmoniously in their outdoor spaces
  • Our showroom features curved boards to illustrate the moldability of TimberTech, showing that they can be used creatively for walls, benches, tables, and more.

Curved boards:

  • Starting with the frame, a curved design involves numerous cuts and measurements, as well as additional blocks to support the bending of the boards. We also use special heated blankets to achieve the right curve, with specific temperature and timing requirements. In this case, we set the temperature to around 170 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 to 20 minutes per board.
  • We conducted several tests to determine the optimal temperature, as overheating can cause bubbles to form on the surface, while insufficient heating prevents the boards from bending properly.
  • The most crucial aspect is creating a precise template for the boards. For this project, we used plywood to ensure accuracy.
