Fraser Decks and Patio Covers

Partners: FastenMaster, MOSO Bamboo

This is what we call a view deck! It’s at the top of the cliffs overlooking the beach in Encinitas. They originally had a very run down deck that really didn’t fit the area or the view. We started by rebuilding the 2nd story cantilevered balcony and replacing the decking with Moso Bamboo decking and the railing with a custom frameless glass railing. Then the lower deck had to be replaced as well and that was a much bigger undertaking. We had to work around specific locations for walls, a custom BBQ island, a firepit, stairs, and a spa. The finished product ended up being a Moso Bamboo deck with a custom frameless glass railing on both the upper and lower deck. We also enclosed the perimeter of the deck with horizontal Moso Bamboo deckboards! We used a Penofin hardwood stain to get the color right. Along with the BBQ island, spa install, and firepit, there was also a custom outdoor shower, retaining walls on the cliff, and turf installed. And to top it off there are stairs leading from the deck down to the beach!

They now have a deck to match the view!

Colorado Custom Covers and Decks

Partners: CAMO, Deckorators, DEKAT Engineering LLC, FastenMaster, Under the Sun

The Deckorators ALX cable railing on this elevated deck is a stunning testament to modern design, pushing the boundaries of traditional cable railing systems. Crafted to harmonize with the home’s curvy, contemporary architecture, this railing artfully frames breathtaking 360-degree views of the majestic mountains and vibrant cityscape, transforming the outdoor space into a visual masterpiece.

We proudly set a world record by bending the Deckorators top cap to an unprecedented 2- foot radius, achieving a seamless curve that elegantly mirrors the lines of the home. This remarkable feat required advanced engineering techniques to maintain the integrity of the material, resulting in an installation that is truly one-of-a-kind. The sleek, minimalist profile of the ALX cable system enhances visibility while ensuring robust strength and durability.

Achieving the perfect curve with the cable railing itself was no small challenge. Each cable had to be meticulously tensioned to meet rigorous safety standards while embracing the unique shape of the deck. Balancing the tension across the entire system while adapting to the elegant curve demanded an unwavering attention to detail and innovative problem- solving. The result is a breathtaking railing system that elevates both the safety and aesthetic appeal of this extraordinary outdoor living space.

ICOR Building & Remodeling

This historic porch renovation, originally built in 1896, now stands as a testament to our crew’s craftsmanship and attention to detail. Our client’s primary goal was to restore the porch to its original charm while incorporating low-maintenance materials. We selected grooved IPE for the decking, meticulously replicating the original tongue-and-groove layout with a starburst pattern on the radius section. To enhance the existing handrails, we introduced custom-made Intex railings and balusters, receiving Historic Commission approval for the 30-inch height to preserve the unobstructed water views from both the porch and the interior.

A standout feature is the stair handrail, crafted by local master metalsmith Michael Saari, whose hand-forged tulip design exemplifies the project’s artistry. One of the most challenging aspects was constructing a jig to match the radius of the upper header for a new double-carrying beam on the radius section of the deck. We kerf cut and coated the new beam with exterior-grade poly adhesive, and effectively bent the beam to the exact radius using the jig. The result is a beautifully restored porch that honors its historic roots while offering modern durability. This project showcases the outstanding craftsmanship and dedication of our team, evident in every detail.
