Many major construction firms are now publishing both medium-term and long-term targets to reduce their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, outlining their commitment to support international efforts to mitigate global climate change. Though the carbon dioxide emissions from off-road construction vehicles account for only around 1.1% of global emissions, the International Energy Agency estimates that the construction industry is responsible for approximately 20% of global emissions when the production of building materials (cement, steel, glass, etc) and infrastructure construction projects are included.

Wholesale Lumber Drops 50 Per Cent, Retailer’s to See Prices Change Soon

Consumers may continue to see the price of lumber at retail stores drop considerably in the coming months after wholesale prices declined around 50 per cent back in June. Paul Jannke, Principle of Lumber for Forest Economic Advisors says that in March wholesale prices peaked at around $1,400 per thousand board feet (the standard unit of measure for Western Spruce-Fir-Pine lumber), but about a month ago took a nose dive.

Regina Couple Injured in Deck Collapse Wants Builder, Developer to Take Responsibility

A raised deck overlooking a pond and golf course is what convinced Koroush Khandehroo, a 47-year-old professor at the University of Regina, and his wife, Mahshad Khaniki, to buy a new townhouse in northwest Regina in 2015. For nearly five years, the couple considered the second-storey deck to be a peaceful oasis from which they could watch birds and golfers. Then, on June 22, 2020, the deck collapsed underneath them and turned their lives upside down.
