The New England Chapter of NADRA surprised a Soldier last night with news of a new deck!
June 15, 2011 – Dracut, MA | We decided to deliver the news a little different for our Soldier, says Ed Lenzi, New England Chapter Deck for a Soldier Chair. We contacted the family of the soldier to let them know they will be receiving a deck, free of charge; but we decided not to tell the Soldier – not just yet! Last night, the family came out for a celebratory dinner (Dracut, Massachusetts) as their son just received a scholarship (so they thought). Instead, waiting for them at the restaurant, were many of our local NADRA chapter members, family of the Soldier and a design of their new deck! I think it is fair to say the surprise was a success!
The chapter plans to build the deck for their Soldier at the end of July. They will be using Fiberon decking, Trex railing and furniture, Atlantis Railing lighting, Lumber by BB&S, Fasteners from FastenMaster and trim board from AZEK. Local NADRA builders will be donating their time and skills to build the deck. A complete list of all donating companies will be provided once the chapter completes the building plans.
If you are a NADRA member, and would like to help the New England chapter in any way with this build, please contact Ed Lenzi through email at: lenziconstruction@gmail.com. The chapter is still looking to secure a member(s) to help with the purchase of Tshirts as well as the catering & supplies for the Ribbon cutting ceremony.
Thank you to everyone who has helped so far! We couldn’t do it without you! We are excited to give back to someone who has put so much on the line so we can have our coffee every morning. This guy was overseas for three tours as his family was left behind managing. If you want more information on the soldier and his family, you can email me (Ed) and I will send you some information on their story if you have not already received it.
Sincerely,
Your New England Chapter Board of Directors & Local D4S Chair, Ed Lenzi
