It was another successful meeting for the Atlanta NADRA Chapter on Tuesday, August 20th held at the Ivy in Buckhead.  We had 55 in attendance which included several visitors.

We started the meeting with a review of last month’s minutes and also heard a very succinct and perfect report from our Treasurer – Mike Reasons.  Scott McCawley spoke about the upcoming Deck For  A Solider event and let us know that we will be picking a family very soon and he also asked that you contact him if you are interested in participating (smmmccawley@dixieply.com).  Steve Matrangos gave us an update on codes and we also mentioned that PMC is hosting a Code class on Thursday September 26th from 11;30 am to 4:30 pm.  Please contact PMC directly if you are interested.  They are holding up to 30 slots for NADRA members and they have already sold out the class.  We talked about our upcoming elections for the 2014 and 2015 year(s).  The election will be held during the October meeting and the current nominees are; James Gunning/President, Mike Reasons/Vice President, Ginny Tibbetts/Secretary and Greg Mizerak/Treasurer.  If you are interested in running for an office please contact myself or Ginny.

Deck Expo and the NADRA national meeting will take place in Chicago Oct 16th-19th.  Key dates as follows:  NADRA 2013 Awards party – Wed Oct 16th / NADRA 2013 Annual meeting Thursday Oct 17th immediately following exhibit hours / REGISTER for the national Deck Competition by submitting your pictures at NADRA.org / Deck Professional certification classes to be held at various times – check NADRA.org and you can also register at deckexpo.com.

Special thanks to Dixie Plywood for sponsoring this month’s meeting.  Dixie highlighted the Fortress Railing line and Craig Smith/Regional Sales Manager was on hand to go through the product line and what it has to offer.  Our guest speaker was Danny Bachman, President of Dixie Plywood.  Danny gave us an overview of the role of Distribution in our industry with a special emphasis on “service” to the channel.  He also updated us on positive economic news and trends for our market.
