Over 74 National Winners with over 136 Official Partners for the 2021 NADRA Awards were presented at the two-day event at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, FL.
The North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) recognizes and promotes excellence in the outdoor living & decking industry. Each year, the organization honors outstanding deck, dock, and porch Professionals projects at this prestigious awards presentation & celebration.
The two-day event surpassed the 2021 awards dinner by over 100%, doubling the attendance of members, their teams, spouses, and children at this year’s 2022 event.
“For myself and my company, our membership to NADRA, the resources available, and the relationships born through the organization, have been pivotal to our growth, success, and motivation. The awards show for me, is a celebration of that spark. Clearwater was a shining moment of the year. Nothing but the greatest people, sharing the greatest trade, and celebrating each other’s triumph. I can’t say enough for all the hard work and dedication by the NADRA organization and the people behind it. Looking forward to next year.”
Kevin Choquette, President -Ravin Builders
The event was kicked off with a welcome party and a cocktail hour on the beach on Wednesday evening the 23rd.
“The following morning, started with breakfast and a new high-energy session with NADRA members and sponsors Legacy Decks Academy, in which NADRA titled “Breakthrough to Excellence.” The 4-hour powerful presentation was packed with actionable takeaways for everyone in the room. Whether you were an industry-leading sales representative or had 25 years of experience as a contractor, the discussions impacted your business and life immediately. The speakers in attendance were Chris and Amy Breen, Nick Long, and Cullin Talley. “Hello!…. and my most sincere and heartfelt greetings to all of our NADRA members!
Our Florida event was such a success…. Truly a thrill to attend.
The NADRA Home Team did an outstanding job in planning this fantastic gathering.
Our days together were filled with fellowship, meeting new friends, enjoying the company of old friends, lots of laughing, lots of learning, lots of encouragement….. and lots of wonderful family fun.
The Deck Award Competition was incredible & inspirational… it was so impressive to see all the entries… every deck entry was literally beautiful, unique and award worthy. Our judges had an impossible task of selecting clear winners from among so many fantastic entries.
Most of our attending members brought their family and everyone enjoyed a few great days of “fun in the sun” at a fantastic resort venue. I must say that seeing the members’ families enjoying themselves at our beach Olympics…and also watching them beam with pride at the showcased accomplishments of their favorite Outdoor Lifestyle Professional…. was all just so deeply heartwarming.
There are three things I would like to make sure you all take-away from this experience…” Read Vincent’s full letter to membership HERE.

Overall First Place, Dr. Decks LLC
Partners: The Azek Company, FastenMaster, G-Tape, Hideaway, In-lite, Regal Ideas, Simpson Strong-Tie
This work of art is my life’s work. It took every skill set I’ve obtained over the last 35 years to complete. This deck features TimberTech Azek decking with over 40 man hours of heat bending required to make all the custom parts needed to complete the design. it took two men over 4 months to complete this massive project. Both decks are waterproofed with EPDM pond liner and the lower deck is completely skirted in matching products to provide a secure storage space for the homeowner. Custom made secure barn door access was created to gain access under the deck. Access to the lower yard is provided by a custom curved spiral staircase that is flanked with custom fabricated curved glass provided by Regal ideas and Coastal Curved Glass. More Regal ideas Crystal Rail curved glass is installed throughout the entire project that seamlessly flows with the lines of the deck. In-Lite lighting is provided for safe, night access down the curved staircase. Hideaway Screens provide privacy to the neighbors and a custom Timbertech Azek axe throwing station is installed behind a custom Azek PVC privacy wall on the far end of the deck.
Overall Second Place, Stump’s Quality Decks and Porches, LLC
This project took some time, but the finished result was gorgeous. One obstacle we faced in the building process was the fact that the customer did not want the roof against the house, to prevent darkness and shadow. We were able to bring the picture in her mind to life, by moving the roof further out (as you can see it is not connected to the house). A couple specific points of craftsmanship would be the radius breakfast bar and the swing. Both of these are more custom made details. Other beautiful details about the project are pretty self explanatory and noticeable just looking at the picture.
Overall Third Place, Decks by Kiefer LLC
Partners: Feeney
The goal of this project was to create an entertainment area in which to relax and enjoy the water view. The upper level, waterproofed with EPDM roofing, provides a covered area for the table and chairs. The ceiling is meranti with recessed lights and a paddle fan. Two steps lead down from the main level to a seating area with a curved bench and slatted lounge chairs that surround a fire pit. This configuration also lowers the line of sight to the water. A live edge cypress slab is incorporated into the design as a bar top.
Thank you to all our members who entered, partners, and official sponsors. “This event isn’t only the best of the best deck builders getting together, it’s a family reunion! From the advice from veteran deck builders and discussions about running a business, The real value was the family-like environment that we all share. From personal stories of how to be a better person to your family, friends and yourself, to the beach Olympics. The event showed me ways to work as a team, strategize and adapt to different scenarios. NADRA ROCKS! – Andy Henley, Hen-House Decks
“The NADRA 2-day event and Banquet have evolved into such a BROTHERHOOD of sharing that the awards have become secondary. 200++ of the finest from around North America in one room freely offering roadmaps to success in a family friendly atmosphere is truly a beautiful thing to behold. ” Brendan Casey, Casey Fence and Deck, LLC

Second Annual NADRA Beach Olympics and Farewell Luncheon
Those who were up for the challenge met on the beach and were separated into teams and competed for the second NADRA Olympics Gold Medals. Games included Sand Skiing, Spear Throwing, Water Bucket Brigade, Beer Pong, Water Balloon Launch, Corn Hole, and even a Sand Castle contest for the kids. Beach music was blaring, the sun was shining, the drinks were flowing, and laughter and fun was had by all who attended. And the lunch was delicious!
Last year’s first-place team defended their title with yet another win at this year’s event!
After the luncheon ended and everyone went their separate ways: some headed home that very day, others stayed with family and explored the area and enjoyed the resort; we were able to take a break and reflect upon the event that we just held. Mike Beaudry sums it up perfectly…
“The feeling from the minute we arrived at the hotel to heading out on Sunday was of a family getting together after being apart for far too long.
Building an organization with a solid foundation of core values based upon integrity, trust, honor, and the highest level of professionals willing to share and give to one another through this brotherhood has been our vision and goal over the past 18 years. NADRA.org has indeed achieved this position, thanks to all of you.
For those that were unable to join us and were watching from throughout the nation and around the world: thank you for being a part of this special event.
Your board of directors is extremely excited and already working together with the committees to increase education and to drive membership which in turn will help promote the association’s growing sponsorships.

Congratulations to each-and-every one of you who entered and to the member partners who supply the incredible innovative products we get to use as we change the lives of our clients.
We are so proud of you all and are stoked for what we will accomplish together in the years ahead.”
Cheers,
Michael Beaudry, Executive Vice President, NADRA
